Thank you for helping make my time in college (2012-2015) an enjoyable time. A smart funny and welcoming man. My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the Dobson family. Sir Christopher's passing is a great loss to humanity and the College. A great man for a great College and University.

It saddens me greatly to hear of the departure of Chris Dobson, one of the corner stones of St John's during my time in College. I will remember him for his inspirational speeches, his hospitality and his kindness. He will be sorely missed.

I first met Sir Christopher at an alumni meeting in London when he was Master Elect. I was struck by how approachable and likeable he was. I again had the privilege to meet him only this last June at his garden party preceding a reunion dinner. I'm so glad I did and so sorry he is no longer with us. My thoughts are with his family.

Sir Christopher was a year or two ahead of me at school (Abingdon) and he achieved great things in his professional life. I send Lady Mary my sincerest condolences

I have always really enjoyed Christmas teas at the Masters lodge with Chris Dobson-a really decent human being truly worthy of his knighthood
He will be really missed-one of the great Masters

I only met Sir Christopher a few times at Donor Days in recent years, but he seemed a lovely, warm, courteous and humble man, as well as (clearly) a huge intellect. But I remember one speech he gave at the event when he spoke about the desire to allow Johns to recruit the best people, independent of their financial means, something I'm sure he really believed in. But he also made the point that we would always guard our independence from government interference beyond a reasonable point, and at that moment I could see the steel beneath the charming surface, which must have been necessary at times for him to succeed in all the roles he performed so well. He will be greatly missed and my condolences to everyone close to him.

I was greatly saddened to hear of the death of Sir Christopher. I have many very good memories of him, during my time as a student at St John’s (2010-2015). I wish to extend my condolences to his family at this difficult time.

May he rest in peace.

Chris Dobson was a true gentleman in science and in life. It breaks my heart that I will never again feel enlightened and encouraged after talking to him. He always made everyone feel important with his kind and welcoming nature. He will be truely and greatly missed.
