What a sad loss to the College. Chris has been a truly great Master who will be sadly missed. And a huge loss to science too.

Heartfelt condolences to Mary and the family.
David Hopwood, Honorary Fellow
I first met Chris in Sydney, Australia in 2010, before I matriculated at John's. Moving countries is always daunting, let alone when you are about to start studying in a community that is also completely new. Chris gave me a glimpse of the kindness and respect that John's offered and for that I will always be grateful. His memory will always be part of the fabric of the college he served with such passion and dedication.

Thank you so much for being such a wonderful Master and making me feel so welcome at St John's.
Thomas Watkin (Head Chorister)
My utmost condolences to Mary, Richard and William. Chris Dobson had touched so many people with his love, passion, care and sincerity. One of my fondest memories of him was when he personally showed my children Claire, Ryan and Alexia, my wife Marian and I, the Master Lodge and the secret passages of the college that i had never been during my days as a student at St John's. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and i hope that they will find comfort to know that Chris is so well loved and respected by so many people around the world. He will be dearly missed by all of us.

I was a graduate student at SJC in the late seventies and was privileged to be able to come back as a Fellow Commoner in 2009-10. Chris and his wife Mary were extremely kind and welcoming to me then, and I shall always be grateful for that. I should like to express to Mary my most sincere condolences.

I well remember the Master's welcoming and interest when I spent a term as Visiting Overseas Scholar in the college where I had received both my undergraduate and Ph.D. training. His death will be a great loss.

It was a great honor to have Sir Christopher join our Planet Earth symposium hosted by the Molecular Frontiers Foundation and The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences this past May in Stockholm. His inspirational presentation on Aging Earth was especially appreciated and his exceptional kindness will always be remembered.
