Sir Dobson’s presence in college was always one of such kindness and warmth; he had a remarkable capacity for making all of the students of St John’s feel incredibly special, as underlined by his dedication in completing our Graduation ceremony in June despite his condition. I am certain I speak for all members of the college when I say that we were extremely lucky to have known him, and will remember his time as Master of St John’s very fondly.

Professor Dobson was really a wonderful person and it was always a joy to meet him during the alumni gathering of Johnians in Singapore. It is very hard to believe that he is no more! It is certainly a great loss for all of us as well as the scientific society. However, he will always be remembered for his great personality and contributions.

Our college has lost a remarkable leader whose concern for very aspect of college life was outstanding. Chris and Mary have been a great team with unstinting support for the Choir and every team and crew to represent us .
On a personal level Angela and I have lost a true friend; the world has lost a great scientist.

I met Chris when I was looking for labs to join for my graduate studies. I was struck by his generosity and presence; I found particularly remarkable how his mentees respected and engaged with Chris. I'll never forget my visit to Cambridge. My condolences to the family

It is very sad to commemorate a colleague whom I have been knowing since 1982, when we first met in Oxford. Over these yeas I had very many occasions to meet Chris, and in the recent years also for projects we were involved in. Besides being a Maestro of Biophysics and having set the standards for many subjects of this research field, Chris was a very friendly person and I will never forget his human tract, always available, and open, and gentle. It is a great loss. He went too early. My sincerest condolences

This tragic news hit very hard and is devastating to hear. Chris was an unbelievable man and leader. His remarkable capacity to motivate students, encourage us to always do our best, yet always be so kind, thoughtful and supportive was unparalleled. Chris was particularly an inspiration for the Boat Club, always being present at rowing gathering and showing his support by donning the red blazer and inviting crews to the lodge before bumps races.
On a personal note, Chris always made me feel so welcome in College and his witty sense of humour combined with his phenomenal commitment to the College was a constant inspiration. His attention to his students had such an impact, and I will deeply miss him when I return to College. He will remain an extremely important figure in my mind throughout my lifetime. I send all my deepest condolences to his family; and a deep thanks to everything he gave to everyone he met.
