As both former Beaufort Visiting Scholars, we have hugely enjoyed the warm welcoming presence of the Master of the College and will miss Chris as air in our next visit to St John’s. His 2018 Christmas card will last as a lovely remembering presence, along with the memory of his sweet smile.

Prof Dobson was and is an inspiration. His legacy will live on in his work on neurodegenerative diseases, the direction he gave to St John's College and the many, many students he has helped.

I don't know anyone who has achieved so much, but remained so grounded. Sir Christopher did not only represent academic success, but also celebrated and promoted the sporting, musical, and theatrical activities of the college. His humor and kindness will be missed within the courts and corridors of his college, but there is no doubt that his legacy will live on. I feel exceptionally honored to have known Sir Christopher and been apart of the college during his time as Master. His passing is a huge loss for both St John's and the university.

As a friend and colleague, we remember Chris as a truly inspirational leader and one of the UK's premier scientists. He will be sadly missed.
Sincere condolences to Mary and the family at this difficult time.

Sir Christopher had a lovely twinkle in his eye. I will remember him and his family in my prayers.

While I was at St John's I witnessed Sir Christopher go far beyond what was expected to take care of the students. He always made us feel welcome. He will be greatly missed.

We were to have met at my fiftieth matriculation reunion next week and St John's will feel empty without him. His kindness, gentle humour and endless resources of sympathy and intuition will be missed by us all. Besides his intellectual brilliance he was a true leader in a time when genuine leadership is sorely needed. Gareth Jones, Scenario Films

I was so pleased to be able to talk to Chris on my recent visit to St. John's.
He was coming to talk to the Cambridge Society of York, of which I am Chairman, but he was prevented by his illness from doing so. I think that, on my last visit we all knew that what the future was likely to be but he always showed great confidence and peace. He was a fine Master and my sympathy is extended to Lady Mary and the rest of the family.

I was shocked to hear about Sir Chris Dobson's passing and my heart goes out to his family and friends. I remember sitting next to him at my matriculation dinner in his first year in 2007, quite nervous and a little shy. He was warm and friendly and made me feel at home, despite admitting that he was a little nervous himself. Rest in peace. Your legacy will live on at St John's.

It has been a privilege to work with Chris over the last seven years, an outstanding scientist and most importantly an exceptional person. I will dearly miss his unique ability to make one feel happy and empowered after every meeting.
Chris may you rest in peace. Your legacy and your love live on: in Cambridge, in science, and throughout the world, as such as been your impact.
