John Barwick, Correspondence concerning the Restoration. English, 1659-c. 1670
John Barwick, Fellow of St John's College (1612-64): correspondence with Sir Edward Hyde, later Earl of Clarendon (1609-74), immediately prior to the Restoration of Charles II, 1659-60, and associated papers. Except where otherwise stated, all letters are to Barwick. Several address him by an alias. The deciphered letters and other papers are all printed in the appendices to [Hilkiah Bedford, ed.], Vita Johannis Barwick (London, 1721), pp. 304-464, and in the English edition of 1724:

- Thomas Holder's memoir of his service in the Royalist cause and his recollections of John Barwick, in an undated letter to Dr [Peter] Barwick, [c. 1670]
- [?Gilbert Sheldon] to [?John Barwick], 10 Jan. [?1660]. The attribution to Sheldon is made by B. H. G. Wormald of Peterhouse in letters to the Librarian dated 6 Feb., 14 Feb., and 19 Apr. 1937, held with the MS.
- Memorandum of leases on episcopal property in the dioceses of Hereford and Norwich, no date. In Barwick's hand.
- A receipt for £100, signed by Charles II; Brussels, 1 Apr. 1660. Loose in vol. The original is in H.9b.

Autographs of Edward Hyde, Gilbert Sheldon (?) and John Barwick. Paper, some of the letters badly torn and somewhat faded. Late seventeenth or early eighteenth-century binding: leather on boards.
