Illuminated miniature, initial and borders from f.37r of MS A.4(II), the Liber Sextus Decretalium of Boniface VIII, with gloss of Johannes Monachus (English, c. 1335-50). The miniature shows a judge seated between two litigants. The historiated initial below shows a crowned St Margaret, holding a long cross-staff and a book, standing on a dragon. The borders incorporate a man playing a viol, and shields bearing the arms of Norwich and Cailly.
