Organ Recital - Roger Sayer (The Temple Church, London)

Thomas: Temple Trio
Ireland: Capriccio
Jackson: Toccata, Chorale and Fugue

Roger is the Organist and Director of Music at Temple Church, London.

Since winning third prize at the St Albans International organ competition, he has performed in many parts of the world, including Italy, Germany, Holland and Australia. Before taking up the post at Temple, he was Director of Music at Rochester Cathedral, and worked for 10 years as accompanist to the London Symphony Chorus, collaborating with many leading conductors.

In addition to his work as organ soloist on the Oscar nominated soundtrack to the film Interstellar, which brought global attention to the organ, Roger's recent recordings include Rheinberger's 20 Organ Sonatas, and the complete Vierne Organ Symphonies, recorded just last year. He also frequently performs and directs live, and in June this year he conducted the Temple Choristers in a live Radio 3 concert which included a world premiere of a choral work based on contributions from the choristers and their parents during the Covid lockdowns.

Future plans include concerts in Europe, a choral course in Australia and developing his YouTube channel.

Last year Roger was awarded the Hon FRSCM for his services to church music over 40 years.
