St John’s College, one of the largest Colleges within the University of Cambridge, is seeking to appoint a Night Porter to join our Portering Department.  The role involves assisting the Head Porter in the day-to-day running of the Porters Department.  You will carry out a variety of tasks including working in the College Porters’ Lodges to provide a welcoming reception service to members of the College and visitors, patrolling the College to ensure the security of the College buildings and grounds and the safety of those living and working in the College and visitors.

The hours for the post will be 37.5 hours per week, 9.45pm – 7.30am.  These hours will be worked on a 5 on 4 off roster.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a customer-related environment together with excellent communication skills and the ability to work on his/her own initiative.  A calm and flexible attitude is essential.
