Linacre Lecture

The College's annual Linacre Lecture, founded in 1524 by Thomas Linacre, physician to Henry VIII and first President of the Royal College of Physicians, will take place on Tuesday 6 May at 5.00 pm in the Palmerston Room, Fisher Building, preceded by tea at 4.15 pm in the Fisher Building foyer.

Professor Herman Waldmann (FMedSci, FRCPath, FRS, MRCP), Head of the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology since 1994, will give a lecture entitled 'Policing the Immune System.'

Professor Waldmann was educated in Cambridge and the London Hospital.   His research interests lie in the field of immunological tolerance where he is exploring the mechanisms underlying self-tolerance in the immune system and how they might be reprogrammed for therapeutic benefit.  Further information on Professor Wadmann's research can be found at http://www.path.ox.ac.uk/dirsci/immunology/waldmann.

It has recently been announced that Professor Waldmann will this year receive the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science from the University of Cambridge.
