2007 British Composer Awards

Threshold of Night, by Tarik O'Regan, specially commissioned for St John's College Choir, won the Liturgical Composition Award at the 2007 British Composer Awards Ceremony held in London on Wednesday 5 December. The music was first performed by the Choir at the Advent Carol Services on 25 November 2006 and broadcast by BBC Radio 3 the following day.

Born in London in 1978, Tarik O'Regan was educated at Oxford University and completed his postgraduate studies at Cambridge, where he was subsequently appointed Composer in Residence at Corpus Christi College.  He divides his time between Trinity College, Cambridge, where he is Fellow Commoner in the Creative Arts, and New York City, where he has held the Fulbright Chester Schirmer Fellowship in Music Composition at Columbia University and a Radcliffe Institute Fellowship at Harvard.
