Crafoord Prize

In 1997 Fred Hoyle was awarded the Crafoord Prize in Astronomy and Mathematics for his “pioneering contributions to the study of nuclear processes in stars and stellar evolution”. The joint recipient of the award was Edwin E. Salpeter, J.G. White Professor Emeritus of Physical Sciences at Cornell University.
