Manuscript description


Illuminated initial and borders from f.49v of MS A.4(II), the Liber Sextus Decretalium of Boniface VIII, with gloss of Johannes Monachus (English, c. 1335-50). The historiated initial depicts a priest at an altar, and a cleric in white repulsing a man. The borders incorporate dragons, a trumpeter, and shields bearing the arms of Mortimer(?) and Manners, Baldwin.
