[Sir Henry Fraser Howard (1874-1943)]: Greek iambics book c. 1891. Notebook contains Greek translations of English verse by Lord Byron (1788-1824); Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834); Walter Savage Landor (1775-1864); Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882); Philip Massinger (1583-1640); Ben Jonson (1572-1637); William Shakespeare (1564-1616); James Shirley (1596-1666); Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822); Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909); and Lord Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892). Multiple translators: name or initials provided below the Greek text; corresponding Greek and English displayed on opposite sides of the page. Howard was educated at Aldenham Grammar and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He graduated BA in 1898 and was appointed to the Indian Civil Service in 1897. He retired from the Civil Service in 1925. In 1923, he was elected to a Fellowship at St John's College.
