Minutes of the Non-Subscribing Ministers' Association. English, 1850-4.

 

'Minutes of the Non-Subscribing Ministers' Association, from November 1850 to April 1854. Written by the late Mr Alfred Hall, Honorary Secretary.' The manuscript opens with a copy of a letter sent by Alfred Hall on 5 Nov. 1850 to twelve Metropolitan Unitarian Ministers whose names are given on p. 2. The meetings of the Association were held initially at the British and Foreign Unitarian Association on Essex Street, London, and subsequently at 178 the Strand. The first meeting was held on 20 Nov. 1850 and the last on 25 April 1854. The volume contains a few printed letters and cuttings. Some accounts can be found at pp. 42-3, and a list of names and addresses appears on p. 125.

230 x 185mm. 125 pages. Paper. Single neat hand throughout. Binding: 19th-century half binding of red leather and marbled paper over boards; marbled edges.

A letter of 9 Dec. 1886 from Christina Campbell of Stoke Newington to an unidentified female recipient is pasted to the front flyleaf. Mrs Campbell sent the minute book to the recipient of the letter. Given to St John's College by the administrator of the estate of J.E.B. Mayor (1825-1910) (book label, 1910). College bookplate.
