Wanxiao tang huazhuan. (Pictorial biographies of the Wanxiao Hall) 晚笑堂畫傳. by Shangguan Zhou. 1743.

This work contains a collection of beautifully printed illustrations, including one hundred and twenty famous historical figures from the Han dynasty to the early Ming dynasty (3rd century BC to 14th century AD) with their biographies. In the preface, the author/artist 上官周 Shangguan Zhou reveals the woodblocks for this work were carved in Guangdong province in his 79th year, i.e. 1743.

This work is in three fascicles, woodblock printed, with a traditional stitched binding in soft covers.
