Undergraduate Admissions Outreach Officer

Undergraduate Admissions Outreach Officer

St John’s College has a longstanding commitment to Widening Participation and is seeking to appoint a dynamic Undergraduate Admissions Outreach Officer to continue and extend its work. If you are committed to the principles of widening participation and student recruitment and have an ability to convey enthusiasm for the value of Higher Education we want to hear from you.

This pivotal role is essential to the College’s Widening Participation and Outreach work and will involve co-ordinating and assisting in the delivery of admissions-related activities and events in order to increase undergraduate applications from candidates who would benefit from study at Cambridge. The work is highly collaborative and will involve working with colleges and departments across the University, maintaining and building key partnerships with external organisations whilst continuing to build relationships with schools. The post holder will monitor the effectiveness of current activities as well as play an active role in suggesting improvements and implementing new initiatives.

The post holder will require the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.  A flexible approach to work is essential as the role requires travel throughout the UK and working some unsociable hours.  Previous experience of working in the education sector would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and have a good understanding of Secondary and Higher Education in the UK, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and first-rate IT skills.

The College offers a competitive benefits package including a Christmas bonus, 36 days’ annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), access to a ‘cash plan’ healthcare scheme currently provided by Simplyhealth, lunch at College expense (up to a specified monetary limit) and free parking close to the College site. This role is for a fixed period of two years.

The closing date for the receipt of completed applications is 12 noon on 13 June 2018.

Interviews are expected to be held on week commencing 2 July 2018.
