Prof Sir Richard Friend awarded IOP medal

St John's Fellow wins IOP award

Professor Sir Richard Friend, Cavendish Professor of Physics at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of St John's College, has been awarded the Institute of Physics' Business and Innovation Medal for outstanding contributions to physics in an industrial or commercial context.

Professor Friend has guided Cambridge Display Technology (CDT) to a pre-eminent position in the development of light-emitting polymers and the technology for flat-panel displays and lighting.
