Inscription of Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556)

An inscription of Thomas Cranmer, reformer and Archbishop of Canterbury during the reign of Edward VI, and burnt by Mary I, reading 'Thomas Cantuarien.' (i.e. Thomas of Canterbury). The inscription appears at the head of the title page of both volumes of a 16th cent. edition of St John Chrysostom's commentaries on the Epistles of Paul (Basel, 1536), and in both cases is crossed through. It is probably not in Cranmer's hand but that of a secretary.
