17th-century Italian gold-tooled brown morocco with arms of the Chigi family (T.12.9-12)

Italian brown morocco binding with gold-tooled design incorporating the arms of a member of the Chigi family. The arms incorporate an episcopal hat and tassels, and may have belonged to Flavio Chigi, seniore, (1631-1693), who held various titles within the Catholic Church, and was Librarian of the Holy Roman Church at the time this book was published. From a Breviary published in Paris in 1674.

Donated by George Udny Yule.
