Choir Tour of the Netherlands

Over the Christmas period, St John's College Choir and their director Andrew Nethsingha will make two separate visits to The Netherlands to give concerts.

Following their successful concert in 2006, the Choir has been invited to perform again in the prestigious Concertgebouw Concert Hall in Amsterdam on Sunday 6December. The programme of Christmas music by Byrd, Howells, Warlock and other European composers will be broadcast live on Avro Radio, and will be available to millions of listeners across Europe. The Choir, and their Organ Scholar Timothy Ravalde, will be joined by two Choir alumni for this performance: former Choral Scholars Alex Ashworth (Baritone) and Graham Walker (‘Cello), who will perform Vaughan William's Fantasia on Christmas Carols.

Later in the month, after a concert at the Birmingham Symphony Hall in the UK, the Choir will return to tour more extensively in central and southern Holland. Over the seven day period they will perform in Sint Jacobskerk in Vlissingen, Kathedral St Bavo in Haarlem, Stevenskerk in Nijmegen, Grote Kerk in Breda, Oude Kerk in Delft and Buitenkerk in Kampen, giving seasonal programmes at each venue. The 30-strong choir of 14 boys and 15 gentlemen will be accompanied by both Chapel organists - Timothy Ravalde and John Challenger'“ who will also perform solo organ works.
