Labour migration and economic performance in England and the Netherlands, 1600-1900. Research

I am mainly interested in the correlation between economic development and demography. In my ESRC postdoctoral fellowship I will work on a comparison between migration within, into and out of England and the Netherlands between 1600 and 1900. By analyzing the geographical mobility of people in these two countries that experienced such a different economic development my project aims to use historical evidence to address a current question: what is the effect of economic performance on the migratory behaviour of people and vice versa?
