Applications are now being accepted for the Harper-Wood Studentship for English Poetry and Literature 2019.

This one-year Studentship is an opportunity for a student who has graduated from any British University (i.e. England, Scotland and Wales), Ireland, the Commonwealth or the United States of America to pursue their own creative writing project. Previous holders include Thom Gunn, Michael Hofmann, Giles Foden, GAby Wood, Sarah Howe, Erin Soros and Vahni Capildeo.

During the year the student must spend all or part of the year in a country of their choice outside the United Kingdom where they must engage in a course of study or research, and produce a piece of original fiction, drama or poetry.

Candidates are expected to prepare a detailed outline of their research and travel plans and make a relevant case for their creative writing project. Funding up to a maximum of £14,750 is provided to cover accommodation and living expenses during the course of the year.
