Green Day: Success!

Green Day: Switch Off! - Results

On Thursday the 18th November 2010 St John's College had what was known as Green Day: Switch-Off. The day was about rethinking the ways in which we use energy (that's mainly gas and electricity) and switching things off when we are not using them.

I am pleased to report that the results of our Green Day are good news! We managed to save an impressive 11% on our gas consumption and 5% on our electricity consumption. This meant that St John's College saved almost one tonne of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) being released, which in context would fill approximately 230,372 two-litre bottles in just one day!

This was an incredible effort that had some considerable results, so thank you to all of those who tried to do something different on the day. I hope you found that things do not have to change too much to achieve a lot.
