St John’s College, one of the largest Colleges within the University of Cambridge in a fantastic central location, is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Functions Assistant to join its friendly Catering team. The ideal candidate will assist in the smooth operation for food service, staff supervision and room preparation for our public and private dining rooms and associated areas.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have knowledge of silver service and hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, however full training can be provided.  Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential.

The weekly 39.25 hours needed for the role will allow the candidate to enjoy alternate weekends off. It will be worked over a 7-day roster on a shift pattern that changes weekly to cover lunches, dinners and other events,
