Digital exhibition. Blancmange to make, Blisters to draw: an ABC of early modern household knowledge
This is an online version of the exhibition held in the Library Exhibition Area until October 2014.
Exhibition description:
Household knowledge in the early modern period was a miscellaneous category, circumscribing cookery, needlework, the production of household cleaning products and (most incongruously from a modern perspective) medical cures. Blancmange to make, Blisters to draw takes an entertaining look at the textual culture of the early modern period, showcasing some weird and wonderful receipt (recipe) books from our special collections.
