Admissions Symposia

An Admissions Symposium is a small informal event which offers a valuable opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest with regard to admissions policy and practice. It is followed by dinner in the company of our Directors of Studies and Teaching Fellows across a range of subjects.

We are currently preparing for our next "Teacher" events, therefore if you would like to be included on our mailing list for future events, please email the Admissions Team.

Feedback comments from attendees of our recent Symposia:

"Thank you and your team for such a useful and informative symposium on Wednesday. I was particularly pleased (and left with a feeling of great admiration) for the care that clearly goes into the admissions process at St John's."

"I thought the whole event presented the College in a strong professional light and should have given confidence to anyone less familiar with admissions or with the college that everything is undertaken scrupulously and painstakingly."

"We found Dr Watson's talk very informative and effective at dispelling some of the myths that surround the admissions system. The Q and A sessions brought various issues to light and the discussion around them was helpful. I also feel that the openness and warmth of the college’s welcome stands in sharp contrast to some of the pre-conceptions that exist about the Oxbridge admissions process."

"I should like to thank you and your colleagues for your hospitality last Friday. I found the symposium most useful and hope that we will maintain contact with St John's."
