Research interestsAlex’s research is in political philosophy, and he currently holds a British Academy Fellowship at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk. He is interested in questions of global distributive justice, particularly in relation to climate change. His British Academy Project aims to provide a normative framework for thinking about claims to a scarce global carbon budget, taking into account both widespread noncompliance with obligations towards climate change mitigation and the existential risks associated with severe climate impacts. He is also interested in the ethics of political resistance and in debates about methodology in political theory and philosophy.
