The St John’s College Women in Maths Days offer students the opportunity to get a taste of what it is like to study Mathematics as an undergraduate at Cambridge, and advice on what makes a good application.
This opportunity is aimed at exceptional pupils currently in England/Wales Y12 or equivalent (for example, S5 Scotland, Y13 Northern Ireland) who are considering applying to Cambridge in 2026.
On the day, you will attend Q&A sessions and taster lectures delivered by Cambridge academics, and find out more about the application process.
You will also have the chance to meet current St John’s students and hear first-hand what it is like to live and study here.
Lunch will be provided free of charge by St John’s College. Parents/guardians are welcome for drop-off/pick-up and to attend the welcome talk, but will not be attending the academic sessions or lunch.
Applications for this programme are open to female students who attend maintained sector schools/colleges, and who are on track to meet or exceed the entry requirements for Cambridge’s Mathematics course.
Applications are assessed on academic merit, as supported by a teacher reference confirming your predicted grades, and places are limited.
Those from regions of the UK outside London and the South East have been under-represented among Mathematics undergraduates at Cambridge. We especially encourage people from these regions to apply.
St John’s College is not responsible for securing permission from your school to attend this day. Should you be offered a place, we will require permission from a parent/guardian for you to attend.
1pm, Thursday 19 March – deadline for student applications and teacher references. Applications made after this date, or applications not complete with teacher references by this date, will not be considered.
4pm, Thursday 26 March – we aim to communicate the outcome of your application by this date.
1pm, Thursday 2 April – deadline for parental consent and further information form (confirmation of attendance, accessibility and dietary requirements etc) for students offered places.
