Thomas Wentworth, Speech before the House of Lords. English, 1641


Thomas Wentworth, Earl of Strafford (1593-1641), of St John’s College: concluding remarks in his speech made while on trial in the House of Lords, 12 Apr. 1641. Very similar to the printed version of his speech in The conclusion of the Earle of Straffords defence the twelfth of Aprill, 1641 (ESTC, R17772; SJC, Gg.6.46(1)).

Neat copy in a single contemporary secretary hand. Paper, somewhat worn at folds.
