Lewis Dibdin, Undergraduate expenses. English, 1869-74


Robert William Dibdin, of St John’s College (d. 1887): summary account of income and expenses incurred by his son Lewis Tonna Dibdin (1852-1938) while studying at St John’s College, 1869-74. It seems clear that Dibdin senior relied on funds from third parties ro support his son at Cambridge. Lewis’s total expenses, excluding vacations, amounted to £743 18s. Sir Lewis Dibdin was an Honorary Fellow of the College from 1923.

165x105mm. 3 pp. Given by a Miss Dibdin [? daughter of Sir Lewis] to E. A. Benians, Master of St John’s College, in Nov. 1938, and subsequently passed to the Library by Benians’ widow in 1952.
