Choir release new CD

St John's Magnificat

On Monday 1 March, The Choir of St John's College, Cambridge release their first disc under the direction of Andrew Nethsingha. The release marks a new collaboration with Chandos Records, with whom the Choir will release five CDs over the next three-years.

The CD of music by Herbert Howells combines lesser known works, such as The Sequence for St Michael and By the Waters of Babylon, with some of the composer's most well-loved and enduring works, Like as the hart and the Gloucester and St John's Canticles. The booklet includes notes by the renowned Howells scholar, Paul Spicer, who provides a fascinating insight into the composer's life and the stories behind the music.

The CD is available to pre-order from the Choir website www.sjcchoir.co.uk at £10 per copy. After release the disc will also be available to purchase at the Front Lodge or the Choir Office.
