Dr Marie-Géraldine Lea, originally from Toulouse, is a College Teaching Associate in French at St John’s College. She is also a Supervisor at Trinity Hall for French Tripos students. She works as a Teaching Associate and course content developer for the Cambridge University Language Programme (CULP), where she teaches language courses including Carmen in Context for the Faculty of Music.
She holds a PhD from the EHESS (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales), with an academic background in French literature, linguistics, Teaching French as a Foreign language and social anthropology. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her academic interests include pronunciation acquisition, language change, the use of drama, films, and stories as resources for language learning and the development of educational materials to foster an early lasting interest in languages. In 2025, she founded Classiques Enchanteurs, creating ready-to-use plays and educational resources in French for young learners.
