Dr Emily Linnane

PhD, AFHEA

Dr Emily Linnane is the Scientific Manager of the CRUK Children’s Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence based at the University of Cambridge, CRUK Cambridge Institute. Emily obtained her MRes in Molecular Oncology and PhD in Cellular and Molecular Physiology at the University of Liverpool. She later worked for an oncology biotechnology company as a pharmacologist developing porcupine inhibitors for pancreatic cancer. In 2016 Emily joined AstraZeneca as a Postdoctoral Fellow studying intracellular uptake of antisense oligonucleotides in KRAS mutant cancer models. Following her industrial postdoc, Emily joined the Adsorption and Advanced Materials Laboratory at the University of Cambridge as a Postdoctoral Research Associate working on novel nanoparticles for drug delivery in hard-to-treat cancers where she led the biology team.

Within the CRUK Children's Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence, Dr Linnane supports projects spanning different childhood brain tumours including supratentorial ependymoma, medulloblastoma and choroid plexus carcinoma. With her background in pharmacology and drug discovery she is especially interested in new therapeutic discovery and novel computational approaches to understanding drug resistance within brain tumours and across other tumour types. Emily supports the training and development of students within the Centre organising seminars, activities and Summer Schools. Her other research interests extend to fundamental questions concerning the scientific method, meta research and the study and development of effective pedagogical practices.
