Rayssa Martins is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Geology at the University of Colorado Boulder, followed by a Master’s degree in Planetary Science at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP), before obtaining her PhD in Cosmochemistry from Imperial College London.
Rayssa’s research uses meteorites and samples returned by space missions to investigate the formation and evolution of the Solar System. She determines their isotope compositions using high-precision mass spectrometry to reveal the materials from which Earth and Mars formed and reconstruct their accretion and differentiation histories. Her research aims to constrain the origin of Earth’s volatile elements and determine when different planetary materials were incorporated during planetary accretion.
