Dr Nima Taghipour

PhD, Royal Society Newton International Fellow, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow

Nima completed his PhD in Photonics at ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Spain, supported by a COFUND Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Fellowship. He then joined the NanoPhotonics Centre at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge as a Royal Society Newton International Fellow. He was recently awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship in the same department.

Nima's research lies at the interface of quantum optics and nanophotonics, with a focus on developing quantum light sources and sensors based on engineered light–matter interactions. By confining light to nanoscale, his work enables novel quantum phenomena and contributes to key advances in quantum communication processing. Nima is particularly interested in translating fundamental photonic discoveries into scalable, integrated quantum devices. His long-term goal is to develop real-world quantum technologies with applications in quantum communication, biomedical diagnostics, and sustainable environmental monitoring.
