Porter

St John’s College, one of the largest Colleges within the University of Cambridge, is seeking to appoint a Porter to join its team of Porters. The roles involve providing a friendly and helpful reception service, and being pro-active to keep students and others who use the College safe and secure.

The hours for the post will be 37.5 per week with variable rest days. The hours worked will need to fit into a team shift pattern which is 4 lates and then one day shift then three days off, but does not require nighttime working.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a customer-related environment together with excellent communication skills, particularly in relation to young people. A calm and diplomatic attitude is essential, as is the ability to use their own initiative to solve problems.
