Darkroom
The College darkroom has been developing Johnian memories for generations. We are excited to be reviving it and sharing film photography with a new generation. The darkroom is a specialized workspace used for developing photographic film. In the past, it was the only way to get a photograph from a film negative. To develop a film, it is typically loaded onto a reel and placed in a light-tight developing tank. Various chemicals are then poured into the tank to develop the film, and the process can take several minutes. Our facilities include all of the necessary materials to develop film from scratch and scan using a DSLR camera or enlarger.
