SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2026
St John's College Veterinary Medicine Taster Day is aimed at exceptional students at the end of Year 12 in England and Wales, S5 in Scotland or Y13 in Northern Ireland who are considering applying to Cambridge in 2026 by the 15 October deadline.
Our programme presents an excellent opportunity, especially for those who are attending the September Cambridge Open Day the previous day.
During the day students will attend Q&A sessions, mock 'supervisions' and taster lectures delivered by Cambridge academics. Participants will explore a range of exciting topics from the Veterinary Medicine course and find out more about the application process.
They will also have the chance to meet current St John's students and hear first-hand what it is like to live and study here. Lunch will be provided free of charge by St John's College.
Applications for this taster day are now open to students who are on track to meet or exceed the entry requirements for Cambridge's Veterinary Medicine course, as confirmed by a teacher referee.
Applications are assessed on academic merit and places are limited. When selecting participants, we may take personal background into account as well as strong academic ability and potential.
Priority will be given to students meeting one or more of the following criteria, as well as the required academic achievement:
Should students be offered a place, we will require permission from a parent/guardian for the successful applicant to attend.
For those attending the Cambridge Open Day on Friday 11 September, accommodation may be available on a case-by-case basis. Details will be provided if you are invited to this Veterinary Medicine Taster Day.
The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 17 August 2026, with teacher references due in by 4pm on Wednesday 19 August.
We aim to notify successful applicants by Tuesday 25 August, when further details about the programme will be provided.
