Open days

Meet our teaching and admissions staff, talk to current students, and explore St John’s

Cambridge Open Days are aimed at prospective applicants from Year 12 (or equivalent) and Year 13 and mature applicants (aged 21 or over), together with their parents or supporters, to help them learn more about the University. If you are considering applying for an undergraduate course, open days are held in July to visit colleges and departments, and September to visit colleges.

The main undergraduate University open days are taking place on Thursday 9 July 2026 and Friday 10 July 2026.

The next colleges open day will be Friday 11 September 2026 and is for prospective undergraduates who are thinking of applying in October 2026 for entry in 2027.

During our open days, you can find out about courses, St John's College and the University departments. You’ll be able to explore the College with a current student as your guide and ask our current staff and students questions about living and studying at the University of Cambridge. You can learn about our facilities, the application process, student life and ways to finance your studies.

On a typical open day, we have events running and host tours of the College with current students between 9.30am and 4.30pm (UK time).

Attendees will be able to speak to our Admissions Tutors and Directors of Studies, or other subject representatives, in Hall throughout each day. The availability of our subject specialists will be shared to this page a week before each event.

Our Admissions Tutor will also be giving talks on Making a competitive application to Cambridge. At the July Open Days, these talks at St John's will be at 10am and 2pm each day, with sessions at 7.30pm on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 July for those who may be staying in Cambridge ahead of attending the open days. Each talk will be the same so you do not need to attend more than one.
