The 50-minute People’s Emergency Briefing documentary, presented by naturalist and TV presenter Chris Packham, is being shown and discussed in thousands of communities and workplaces across the country.
With the St John’s screening organised by members of the College, the film brings together leading UK experts to clearly explain what the latest science says about the climate and nature crisis, how it is already affecting our lives, and what can still be done. It provides a concise, evidence-based overview across many areas including climate, food, health, economics, national security and extreme weather.
“If the heat and drought of the summer seemed to you awake-up call, this is the event for you,” said Professor Jane Heal, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy, St John’s Fellow, and a lead organiser of the screening.
“We hope to see many students, staff and Fellows of St John’s there, along with family, friends, colleagues and others who are interested. The event offers not only a useful chance to hear directly from experts, but also, very importantly, a chance to discuss together what the situation may mean for us and our communities.”
It will take place on Wednesday 25 November, 5.30-7pm, in the Main Lecture Theatre, Old Divinity School.
The event is open to all, but seats are limited, so book your free tickets to secure a place.
