Sunday Evensong Sermon Series

WHAT IS TRUTH?

In a world struggling to see clearly through conspiracy and fake news, seeking truth is more urgent than ever. In this sermon series, we will use the question posed to Jesus by Pontius Pilate to explore what truth really is, how we might find it, and what it means for how we live.

Preacher: The Rev’d Canon Tom Buchanan, Associate Vicar, St Mark’s Newnham and St Andrew’s, Grantchester

Tom is an ordained priest and an associate Vicar at St Mark’s Newnham and St Andrew’s Grantchester. He is also a Canon at Ely Cathedral, where he is a non-executive member of Chapter.

During the week, Tom works as a communications adviser, heading an agency in London that helps companies, academic institutions and individuals to build and protect their reputations. He is perhaps best known as a crisis expert, acting as a media spokesperson and advisor for clients on a number of high-profile situations.

Brought up originally in Cambridge, and a proud alumnus of St John’s College Preparatory school, Tom now lives in the city with his wife and a mad labrador, and, occasionally, one or more of their four adult children.

Tom has spent years learning (unsuccessfully) to be a blues guitarist. His first novel, which features a spy who started life as a treble in an Oxbridge college choir, remains firmly unpublished.
