Colloquium – Speech and Speechlessness on the University Stage

This one-day colloquium will bring together leading academics in English, History, and Classics to examine speech, silence, and disability in early modern university drama.

It is paired with a Research in Action event at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe, London, taking place on Tuesday 12 May 2026, 6pm to 8.15pm.

Participants are welcome to attend both events or one or the other. They are generously supported by a grant from the Judith E Wilson Fund, Faculty of English, University of Cambridge.

Free registration for the colloquium is essential. Space is limited and registration is first come, first served.
