Each year, St John’s College awards the Pythagoras Prize to a first year home undergraduate student coming to study Mathematics at the College. The value of the prize is £10,000.

The award is selected on the basis of both academic excellence and financial need. The award aims to increase the accessibility of the College to applicants from all backgrounds who might otherwise be daunted by the increasing cost of studying at University.

All Home students who receive an offer for Mathematics are eligible for the award and will automatically be put forward. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to apply in June or July, and the award winner will be announced towards the end of the summer before Matriculation.
