Post Porter

St John’s College is looking to appoint a Post Porter to join our Portering Department.  The post holder will provide an effective, efficient, secure and timely postal service for the College. The role involves managing all incoming and out-going mail to ensure the speedy onward transmission of mail to the addressee. The post holder will also, from time to time, support the Head Porter by carrying out a variety of tasks including working in the College Porters’ Lodges to provide a welcoming reception service to members of the College and visitors, patrolling the College to ensure the security of the College buildings and grounds and the safety of those living and working in the College and visitors and responding to emergencies.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a customer-related environment together with excellent communication skills and the ability to work on his/her own initiative.
