Rowland Manthorpe (BA 2005) has won the second Ben Pimlott prize for political writing. His 'Spirit of the Brits' appeared in the Guardian review section on Saturday 1 July. Dr. Keith Johnstone, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Plant Sciences, has won a national award for his part in improving teaching and learning across the biological sciences at Cambridge University. The Linacre Lecture will take place on Friday 5 May at 5.00pm in Lecture Theatre 1, Physiological Laboratory, Downing Street. Professor Frances Ashcroft FRS, University Laboratory of Physiology, University of Oxford, will give a talk entitled'˜Unravelling Diabetes: From Molecule to Malady'.

Professor Robert Kemsley (Robin) Orr, CBE, MA, MusD, Emeritus Professor of Music, Honorary Fellow of St John's College 1987-2006, and of Pembroke College 1988-2006, Organist of St John's College 1938-1951, Fellow 1948-1956 and 1965-1976, died on 9 April 2006, aged 96.
