Schools' Essay Prize As part of our commemorations for the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act 1807, St John's College and Magdalene College held a joint Essay Competition for sixth-formers.    University Essay Prize

We will be holding three Open Days in June and July.  On all three days you will have the opportunity to speak with current undergraduates, chat with Directors of Studies in your chosen subjects, and have a tour of the College and see some of our accommodation. Open Days are taking place on Wednesday 27 June, Thursday 5 July and Friday 6 July.

A reunion dinner is planned for the 8 June 2007 at Pelham House, Lewes, East Sussex. The Master of St John's, Professor Richard Perham, and his wife Dr Nancy Lane Perham will be attending this event. The Development Office has moved from F staircase Chapel Court to offices in D1 Second Court. Johnians are very welcome to visit us at any time. The Biographical Office has also moved from F staircase, and can now be found in the Library.  Again, Johnians with biographical enquiries or who wish to update their records are welcome to visit.

Landmark legislation that marked the beginning of the end of the slave trade is portrayed on six stamps, featuring William Wilberforce and Thomas Clarkson, issued by Royal Mail on 22 March.

A memorial service for Dr George Clifford Evans, MA, PhD, ScD, Fellow of St John's College 1938-2006, sometime Bursar in Charge of College Buildings, and Emeritus Reader in Experimental Ecology, who died on 12 September 2006, aged 93, will be held in St John's College Chapel on Saturday 5 May 2007, at 12 noon.

LATEST RELEASE FROM ST JOHN'S COLLEGE CHOIR: JONGEN AND PEETERS CHORAL MUSIC  This latest release from St John's College Choir features the 'Organ Masses' of Belgian composers Joseph Jongen and Flor Peeters. The recording also includes three solo songs composed by Joseph Jongen, performed by members of the Choir with violinist Thomas Gould. [
