Medieval Manuscripts

The following is an index of M. R. James's Descriptive Catalogue of the Manuscripts in the Library of St John's College, Cambridge with updates. The Library has also mounted an Index of the images in its Medieval Manuscripts on-line, to which an increasing number of digital reproductions are being attached.

The Library's manuscripts can be consulted in the Rare Books Reading Room. If you would like to see any of the manuscripts listed on this site, please contact the Special Collections Librarian (tel. 01223-339393). Manuscripts can be located either by using the following index or by keyword searching:

Enter keywords: or see help

The index follows the St John's classmark sequence arranged alphabetically, and the following navigation bar operates using these classmarks. The initial number in brackets for each entry is the number given to each manuscript by M.R. James's Descriptive catalogue of the manuscripts in the Library of St John's College, Cambridge, however please cite the St John's classmark to avoid ambiguity.
