St John’s College is looking to appoint a Larder Chef to join its busy Catering and Conference Department Using the best fresh ingredients, the postholders will be responsible to the Head Chef for ensuring the preparation of food to a very high quality, on a day-to-day basis for students, Fellows, staff and also for external customers attending lunches, dinners, weddings and conferences. In addition to special functions and events requiring top-end fine-dining, the kitchens prepare up to 1200 meals per day.
The College has a very high reputation for its food and service and we are always looking to enhance this.
It is also very well respected within the hospitality Industry, winning many awards. All staff are fully trained in allergy awareness, and the College is a member of the Sustainable Restaurants Association and Tuco.
You will be qualified to NVQ3 level, City & Guilds 7061 and 7062 or equivalent together with previous relevant experience and will hold an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. Basic knowledge of HACCP principles and COSHH regulations are essential. You will have a high standard of personal hygiene, an attention to detail and good communication skills.
