Head of College Buildings

St John’s College, one of the largest Colleges within the University of Cambridge, is seeking to appoint a Head of College Buildings. The postholder will be responsible for the efficient organisation and smooth running of the Maintenance Department and major building projects as set out in the College masterplan while ensuring the College meets its legal, environmental and health and safety obligations.

The successful candidate will possess a degree or HNC in building discipline or equivalent, alongside experience with new builds or major refurbishments.  Understanding of the local and national planning process and of working with listed buildings is essential; alongside experience of leading and managing change effectively with a proven track record managing a team to deliver against objectives. Candidates must have building and contract management experience including management of financial information, budgets and costs. As Head of Department, the ability to lead and motivate a team in addition to meticulous planning and complex problem solving is essential.
