College Scholarships and Supplementary Emoluments
College Scholarships and Internal Funding
Current undergraduates of St John's and those members of the College currently reading for the Certificate of Advanced Study or the LLM, and current MPhil Students of St. John’s will automatically be awarded College Scholarships if they reach the required standard in their Tripos or MASt examinations or their MPhil.
College Graduate Funding
College Postgraduate Internal Funding
Those entitled to such Scholarships (including former MPhil Students of St. John’s returning for a PhD) who intend to continue with postgraduate work at St John’s will automatically be considered for limited competitive funding associated with their Scholarships at meetings in July and September/October.
This funding is at a level equivalent to that for Benefactors’ Scholarships. College Scholars whose fields of study fall within those mentioned for the named Scholarships above may be given awards from the Craik, J.C.Hall, Paskin or Pelling funds as appropriate.
Tenure
Tenure
For those returning to postgraduate work at St John’s the Scholarship will continue for the normal minimum duration of the course, subject to satisfactory academic progress. (e.g. for those embarking on an M Phil with the intention of continuing for the PhD, the Scholarship will initially last for one year but Scholars may apply for consideration for a renewal of funding for a further three years if the distinguished performance standard is achieved in the M Phil.) Internal Funding will normally continue until the end of the qualifying Scholarship.
Applying
How to apply
Current undergraduates of St John's and those members of the College currently reading for the Master of Advanced Study, the LLM or the M.Phil. degree need not fill in a separate application form.
Applicants will be required also to apply for all other research awards for which they are eligible. The value of any Scholarship awarded will be reduced appropriately to take account of payments from other sources. Election will be conditional upon admission by the University.
