Bedmaker (Maternity Cover)

St John’s College, one of the largest Colleges within the University of Cambridge in a convenient central location, is seeking to appoint a Bedmaker (Maternity Cover) to its friendly Housekeeping team.

Here, they will assist in cleaning bedrooms, offices and public areas to the required standard as part of an efficient and effective housekeeping service for members of the College, their guests and visitors. Other areas covered include the likes of student and non-residential fellows’ rooms, group hostels and conference/ guestrooms.

The post holder will also be required to report any maintenance requirements, security lapses, prolonged absence of occupants and damage to fixtures and fittings to the Senior Linen Room Supervisor. Other relevant duties may be specified by the Superintendent of Housekeeping from time to time

Previous cleaning experience would be an advantage for this role, though it is not essential. Full comprehensive in-house training will be given.

It is vital that the successful candidate has a good work ethic and can-do, self-motivated attitude. The ability to communicate affectively due to being in contact with students, fellows and visitors is necessary as is the ability to work to deadlines, particularly during busy conference periods.
